Affordable maternity photo shoot
For a long time, I resisted the idea of offering a package with a limited number of photos for my family photo sessions. This year, with the increase in my rates, I gave a lot of thought to a package that would allow me to offer an affordable maternity photo session without shortchanging myself. I need to be able to continue spoiling my clients AND my family. That’s why this year I’m offering two packages for your maternity, newborn, or family photo sessions.
As a newborn photographer, I’ve always believed it’s important to make beautiful photos accessible to as many families as possible— photos that capture their essence and celebrate their lives as they welcome their new baby. I’ve always put a lot of thought into my rates so as not to burden the couples who hire me. Having a baby is already so expensive! I wanted to share a few tips that many of my clients have tried to get an affordable maternity photo shoot.
Add the photo shoot(s) to your baby registry
We don’t always think about it; we often tell ourselves that it’s not a gift for the child but for ourselves, and that the list should be dedicated to them. I believe, however, that a family photo shoot is a priceless gift we give our child. Memories of moments spent together—moments they won’t consciously remember but that will help them grow and become a well-rounded adult.
Ask your photographer if you can pay in installments.
Many photographers will allow you to spread out your payments. For example, I offer a four-installment payment plan for my first-year package and a two-installment plan for my standard photo sessions. Don’t hesitate to discuss your options with your photographer.
What if saving money were a fun game?
You could also decide to set up a joint fund for your family photo sessions. By each setting aside €40 every month during the pregnancy, you can treat yourselves to a maternity photo shoot and a newborn photo shoot without feeling like you’ve spent too much ;-) You can turn it into a game by setting aside money you didn’t spend on things you’re not allowed to consume, for example (alcohol, raw cheese, deli meats…), and if your partner decides to join you in avoiding those forbidden foods
