Why a first-year package?

We hear and experience so much during our children’s first year of life. Fortunately, the beautiful moments often take precedence and help us forget the harsh words we hear. And over time, we often forget it all: the birth, the crying fits, the sleepless or fitful nights, that feeling of helplessness in the face of this little being whom we love so deeply!

As a family photographer, I’m here to help you forget the little stresses of everyday life during four family photo sessions. I’ll guide you through the process and show you just how beautiful your family is, no matter what it looks like.

I came up with this phrase to show you that this child you’ve just welcomed into your home might not look like you. That you might not share any genes. That he or she might look a little too much like your partner. I’m here to show you through my photos that he or she is perfect because he or she is who he or she is, because you’re his or her parents, and because later, when looking at the photos from his or her first year, he or she will tell you so. My oldest daughter, when looking at the albums, often tells me that she’s beautiful, that we’re beautiful, and that it’s funny to see ourselves so small. She says my chin is really tiny (even though I only see it in my photos), “It’s normal, Mom—you’re really small, so your chin is too,” and I can’t even tell which parent she looks like anymore because her authenticity shines through so much. I see our loving gazes; I admire how happy she looks when she’s snuggled up against me; I discover all the affection her little sister already had for her when she was just a baby.
