Finding the Right Photographer for Your Wedding
The Importance of Human Connection
The first thing I tell engaged couples during our introductory phone call is that choosing awedding photographer should be a matter of love at first sight. The wedding photographer is the person you’ll see the most on your wedding day. She’ll be there during the preparations when your emotions start to run high; she’ll be there when you’re alone with your partner for the first time after the ceremony during the couple’s photo session; and she’ll be the one capturing your first and last glasses of champagne. If you can’t stand your wedding photographer, the day is likely to be long and stressful for you.
The relationship with your vendors—and especially with your wedding photographer—is, above all, a human connection. I’ve been a wedding photographer in Paris for several years and have always made it a point to work with couples who are a good fit for me. This is important given my very natural and authentic photojournalistic style. If I don’t understand the couple, I won’t be able to truly capture their emotions.
To help you find the right photographer, I highly recommend that you:
Take the time to define what makes a good photographer
Take the time to talk in person with the wedding photographer you’ve chosen to determine if they’re the right fit for you and if you feel an instant connection
Take some time to think about the questions you’re going to ask him
Trust your instincts :-) Mine have never—or almost never—let me down.
Take a look at her galleries and keep in mind that every wedding is unique
Don’t be afraid to ask him any questions you may have—the bond of trust between a good photographer and the bride and groom is essential.
And if you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Paris, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
